CommUNITY Church located in Salem, Virginia established Wheels for Hope as a ministry after Texas was devastated by Hurricane Harvey. While the adults will be focused on providing the essentials: shelter, power and supplies, Wheels for Hope will gift each child with a new bike for Christmas. We will be continuing this each year. Each year we will choose a location devastated by a natural event to bring hope to a young person.
The media covers Wheels for Hope from the start, with special focus on our launch week efforts. You will find links to this coverage under "In the News!" Our Media section contains photo galleries and videos to share the joy of bringing hope to youths for Christmas.
Collecting 320 bicycles is no easy task, yet together we can reach that goal by December 17th! Bicycles will be delivered to J.T. Barber Elementary School in New Bern, NC. We are accepting bicycle or monetary donations. Bicycles cost around $70 each. The school has asked for bike sizes 18" or 20" only. We are a non profit organization which means all donations are tax deductible.
CommUNITY Church in Salem serves as the physical drop off point for bikes, however, you may mail in your tax-exempt gift, (we are a 501(c)3 organization), to the below address!
